Terms of Service

Last updated 30 October 2026

Plain terms for a guild, written to be read. If something here is unclear, ask in Discord and we will fix the wording.

Who you are agreeing with

Decades is a gaming community founded in 2005 and run by its members. It is not a company. There is no legal entity behind it, nobody is paid, and the people who build and administer the Decades App are guild volunteers. "We" and "us" below mean the guild's leadership.

What these terms cover

Two things: this website at https://decades.gg, and the Decades App — the guild's own planning software, built to replace twenty years of spreadsheets and signup forms.

The Decades App runs in a browser, as iOS and Android apps, and as the Decades desktop app for Windows, which installs and updates the guild's in-game addon, Decades GuildOps, uploads what the addon records, and writes the guild's data into your game for the addon to show.

Using this website or the Decades App means these terms apply to you. They do not cover Discord, Blizzard Entertainment, or any other service you reach from a link here.

Who can use the app

You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account. Discord requires the same minimum and guild membership already depends on a Discord account, so this is not a new bar. Where local law sets a higher age for using a service like this, that higher age applies to you.

This website is public and requires no account at all.

Signing in is not membership

You sign in to the Decades App with Discord. In a browser and in the desktop app it is the only way; the iOS app also offers Apple or a phone number, and the Android app Google or a phone number, which you can add to your account in the phone app's Settings, or under Account on the web. Signing in with Discord always reaches the account your Discord is linked to. If you sign in another way to an account with no Discord link, linking Discord is the first thing the app asks of you.

Signing in creates an account with no guild access. It does not make you a member of Decades. If the Decades Discord server already gives you one of the guild's ranked roles, linking Discord gives you that rank, once, and you are in. Otherwise you apply, and an officer accepts or rejects your application. Nothing you write in it promotes you, and until you are accepted the app shows you your own information and nothing else about the guild.

Accepted members hold a rank, and officers and the guild master hold the administrative functions — building the week, placing characters in groups and publishing it. Admin, which only another Admin grants, adds the guild-wide settings. After the first link, Discord roles never set your rank again: only officers and Admins change it, and there is no way to promote yourself. When your rank changes, the change can take a short time to reach a session that is already signed in.

If you end up with two accounts, they can be merged in the app: you merge them yourself, or an Admin does at your request when both are linked to Discord. The account kept keeps its own rank, the other account is deleted, and a merge cannot be undone.

What you put into the app

Everything you enter or post in the app — your profile, characters, availability, signups, application, and what you write to officers or to the guild — and what the desktop app uploads for you stays yours. You keep whatever rights you have in it. By entering it you are giving the guild permission to store it and show it, in the app and in guildmates' games through the addon, to the people the app is designed to show it to — which is described in the privacy policy.

Which characters are yours is taken at your word and reviewed by an officer; nothing checks it with Blizzard. Class, specialization and join dates are self-reported too. What the desktop app uploads is read from the addon's saved data in your game. Please keep what you enter accurate, and only enter things that are yours to share.

One consequence worth stating plainly: raid history belongs to the character, not to your account. A published roster is a permanent record of what the guild ran that week. If you later delete your account, your character is unlinked from you, but the guild's raid history and the rosters it already published stay intact.

How you may use it

A short list, and it is mostly common sense.

  • Do not try to reach data or functions you were not given — other members' attendance, unpublished rosters, officer tools, or anyone else's account.
  • Do not attempt to give yourself a rank or privilege the guild did not grant you, or to interfere with how the app enforces them.
  • Do not impersonate another member, or claim characters that are not yours.
  • Upload only the WoW accounts you play.
  • Do not scrape, bulk-export or automate against the app, other than your own export and the Decades desktop app, and do not use what you find in it, or in the guild data the desktop app writes into your game, to build a list for contacting people elsewhere. Having raided with someone is not their consent to be messaged.
  • Do not enter anything unlawful, or anything written to harass or threaten another person.
  • Do not attack the service — no probing for vulnerabilities, no flooding it with traffic, no attempts to disrupt it for other members.

If you find a security problem, tell an officer in Discord rather than demonstrating it.

Losing access, and leaving

Guild membership is decided by the guild's leadership. Officers decide applications and ranks in the app, and interviews take place in Discord. Officers can reject an application, which you may make again, change your rank, or remove your access — most often because you have left the guild or are no longer in the Discord server. Breaking the rules above can also cost you access.

You can leave at any time, and you delete your account yourself, signed in. The privacy policy's section on deleting your account sets out how, what deleting removes, and what stays and why. Two honest limits on that. It cannot remove anything from Discord, Blizzard or any other service outside our control. And it does not erase the guild's shared history — your approved characters are archived with their history rather than deleted, and published rosters stay.

Nothing here costs money

This website and the Decades App are free. There are no fees, no subscriptions, no adverts and nothing to buy. The app exists partly to retire a paid signup form the guild used to carry, and we do not collect payments of any kind. If that ever changes, it will not happen quietly.

Availability and changes

This is volunteer-run software. We do not promise that it will be available, that it will be correct, or that it will keep working the way it does today. Features can change or be removed, and the whole thing can be taken offline. Do not treat it as the only record of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Anything that matters, such as schedule changes and outages, is announced in Discord.

Services you also need

Taking part means using services we do not run, each with its own terms that you are agreeing to separately:

  • Discord — required. You sign in with it, and a ranked role in the Decades server sets your first rank.
  • Blizzard Entertainment — you need the game and an account to raid with us.
  • Apple or Google — for the iOS and Android apps, and as another way to sign in on them.
  • Your mobile carrier — if you sign in on a phone with a phone number, which takes US and Canadian numbers, standard message rates apply.

Losing access to one of these — a Discord ban in particular — can lead officers to remove your access here too.

Names, artwork and software

Decades is a player community and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Blizzard Entertainment. World of Warcraft, its artwork, its class and specialization icons and all related marks belong to Blizzard. We use them to describe the game we play, with attribution; the fact that they are publicly available is not a licence to anyone else.

The Decades name, the logo and this site's design belong to the guild. The Decades GuildOps addon is released under the MIT licence. The rest of the Decades App is the guild's software and is not open for reuse; please do not copy it and present it as your own.

No warranty, and limits

Everything here is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app is accurate, available, secure or fit for any particular purpose.

To the extent the law allows it, the guild's leadership and the volunteers who build and run this are not liable for any loss that comes out of using it — lost data, a roster that did not reach you, a raid you missed, or anything that follows from the service being unavailable. Some places do not allow that limit to apply in full, in which case it applies as far as it legally can where you live.

Changes to these terms

These terms change when what the website or the Decades App does changes. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version, and any change that actually affects members is announced in Discord. Continuing to use the site or the app after a change means the new terms apply to you.

Contact

Questions about these terms go to support@decades.gg, which reaches the guild master and the app's builder, including if you are no longer in the Discord server. Members can also ask guild leadership in the Decades Discord.
